Constructed in 1571 A.D., Jama Masjid is among the largest mosque in India. The masjid was erected in commemoration of Sheikh Salim Chisthi and his grandson Islam Khan by Jahanara Begum, Shahjahan's daughter, who was imprisoned with Shah Jahan by Aurangzeb.
The mosque has an elegant architecture and also have the Tomb of Royal ladies and Jammat Khana hall within the Courtyard. The masjid endorses stunning adorned paintings inlaid stones, carvings and glazed tiles. The tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti is worth seeing. At first it had been constructed in red stone and was later on changed in marble by Jahangir. It is lattice screens are probably the most intricate and beautiful inside the world. It's tomb of Islam Khan, and Sufi shrine or 'dargah'.
